MULTICULTURAL STUDIES (INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM)
     
Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a master's degree in any related field from accredited colleges or universities with GPA of at least 3.50.
  • Have a TOEFL score of at least 500 (PBT) or 173 (CBT) or an IELTS score of 5.0
  • Have a research proposal in areas specified in each academic year
  • Students with work experiences in related fields or have published in recognized national or international academic journals in the past 5 years will be given special consideration.
  • An applicant without the above-mentioned qualifications may be taken into consideration by the Program Committee in conjunction with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Required Documents

The application form must be submitted with the following documents:

  • Full academic transcript for undergraduate degree and master degree.
  • Non-native English speakers must submit a language test certificate. The committee may reject applicants whose TOEFL score is below 500 (PBT) or 173 (CBT) or ILETS is below 5.0
  • Research Statement. The research statement outlines a potential research project the applicants may undertake for their Ph.D. thesis. This research statement will contain: 
    • an outline and overview of the issue which is to be investigated
    • a brief review of related literature or research which has been conducted in this area.
    • research objectives, relevance, and contribution.
    • potential research methods intended to undertake this project and potential research site (if applicable)
    • bibliography
  • Research statement should demonstrate the applicant's research and writing skills. It should be about 1,000-1,500 words excluding bibliography.
  • Personal Statement. 1-2 page statement outlining the reasons why the applicant wishes to apply to this program. You may detail your professional or research interests or previous work or related experience. Please attach a sample of your related research or academic writing. 
  • Current Curriculum-Vitae
  • 2 letters of recommendation
