The Neighboring Languages and Cultures research group promotes projects that explore sources and influences on Thai language and culture through interactions with neighboring countries. An in-depth understanding of major influences on Thai language and culture especially those from India and China and the reciprocal nature of these cultural exchanges with neighboring countries serves to locate Thailand in a larger regional context – that of Southeast Asia.
